Document timestamps
SmartAccount automatically applies qualified timestamps to all documents processed through the system, in accordance with the EU eIDAS Regulation (910/2014).
This means every document has legally recognised, undeniable proof of when it was created and that it has not subsequently been changed.
What eIDAS is and why it matters to you
eIDAS (Electronic Identification, Authentication and Trust Services) is an EU regulation governing electronic identification and trust services across the European Union. A qualified timestamp under eIDAS has the same legal force as a date on a notarised document.
Legal presumption of accuracy
Under Article 41 of the eIDAS Regulation, a qualified timestamp is presumed to be accurate evidence of the date and time it indicates. If another party wishes to challenge its validity, the burden of proof is on them.
Recognised throughout the EU
A qualified timestamp issued in one Member State is automatically recognised in all other EU countries. Your documents carry the same legal weight from Zagreb to Brussels.
Document non-repudiation
A timestamped document is cryptographically protected. Any subsequent change to its contents automatically invalidates the timestamp, making document manipulation practically impossible.
